Dark Souls 2 is a first-person fantasy hack and slash video game developed by From Software and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment, it was released for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. A port for the Nintendo Switch was also released on August 28, 2018.
Bandai Namco announced the game at its panel at Comic-Con on July 19, 2013 and it was released for PC on April 25, 2014. It was also announced for Nintendo’s Wii U console, and was released for Wii U on April 25, 2014. The PS4 and Xbox One versions were released on May 19, 2014.
The PC version of Dark Souls II was released on Steam on August 25, 2014, having been out of day one access for most of a week.
Gameplay
The player controls a series of unique creatures known as Souls that can be summoned from another world called the Abyss.
Dark Souls II is the sequel to From Software’s 2009 PlayStation 3-exclusive Dark Souls, and expands on the RPG elements of its predecessor, emphasizing the Souls gameplay and combat over the player’s party. The game places emphasis on exploration and player skill as well as the ability to revive fallen allies.
The player moves around on foot and summons and attacks with a unique selection of moves called Artes. Players can explore the game world in an open world environment, with optional side quests and a battle mode with an emphasis on combat. The game features a style of gameplay known as permadeath, where the game ends if the player dies, and requires the player to start a new game if they die.
During gameplay, the player encounters enemies, bosses, and bosses, as well as the player’s and enemies’ respective weapons. If an enemy is too powerful to be defeated in one hit, they may summon allies to help them. Characters are ranked by how fast and powerful they are, while weapons are ranked by damage and range. Souls that die drop their equipment when killed, giving the player the opportunity to make better equipment for their Souls and weapons for themselves.
The game contains seven playable characters, including The Scholar of the First Covenant who was available as an exclusive bonus for Dark Souls.
Plot
The game takes place five years after the events of the original Dark Souls, which ended with the player’s character, a half-demon named The Scholar, fighting and defeating a dragon, only for him to be assassinated by a necromancer, which causes 01e38acffe
